This notice describes Shot Clock version 1.0 with optional on-device voice control and related support requests. Available voice features depend on the platform, device and installed speech models.
Local data and purpose
Shot Clock helps time pool shots, breaks and extensions for two players. Player names, durations, extension settings and counters, language, appearance and the voice-control setting are stored locally on your device. They support app operation and reuse of your settings. You can use nicknames.
The app requires no registration or online account. It contains no advertising, tracking, analytics or integrated crash-reporting services. It does not automatically send these app data to me or a server I operate. There is no integrated cloud sync, export feature or tournament-server connection. Manual timing does not require an internet connection.
Optional voice control and microphone
Voice control is initially off. When you enable it and grant the necessary system permissions, the on-device speech service processes microphone audio and recognised words to carry out commands such as Start, Pause or Extension. Nearby voices may also be captured. Enable the feature only when people within hearing range are informed and agree.
On Apple devices the app explicitly requires on-device recognition; on Android it uses the on-device speech service available from Android 12. It does not fall back to cloud recognition when local support is unavailable. The app does not save audio files or a transcript history and does not upload audio or recognised text to servers. Audio and recognition results are processed temporarily in memory. The operating system manages speech models; providing or updating those models may require its own internet connection.
You can switch voice control off in the app and revoke microphone or speech-recognition permissions in system settings. Manual controls remain available. Your last activation choice is saved; voice control may restart when you reopen the clock if you left it enabled.
Legal bases and control
Local settings processing serves the app functionality you request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where personal data are involved). Optional microphone processing is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time for the future by switching voice control off or revoking permission; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. I cannot remotely access your local app data.
Storage, backups and deletion
Local settings remain until you change them or remove app data. Resetting the clock or starting a new rack does not delete all saved settings. On Android, clear app storage/data in system settings. On iOS and iPadOS, fully delete the app rather than merely offloading it.
Depending on your operating system and settings, app data may be included in device backups or transfers, for example through Apple or Google. Android backups are allowed by the app configuration. I cannot access these backups; manage and delete them separately with the relevant provider where needed. Restoring a backup may restore settings. The provider’s information and settings also apply to these system services.
Support and privacy requests
If you email me with a support or privacy request, I, Daniel Sorger, handle and answer it myself. I process your sender address, message and any attachments you send. For the technical receipt, transmission and storage of messages, I use the email service provided by united-domains GmbH, Gautinger Straße 10, 82319 Starnberg, Germany. The provider states that mailbox data is stored in German data centres. Your chosen email providers also participate in delivery. I handle the substance of your app request myself.
Sending a message is voluntary; I cannot reply without a way to contact you. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contract-related requests, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR for compliance with statutory data protection obligations, and otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for responding and troubleshooting. Send only information needed for your request and remove unnecessary information about other people from attachments. Messages are deleted when no longer needed to handle the request, unless statutory retention requirements or necessary retention for establishing, exercising or defending legal claims apply. Business and tax records subject to statutory retention are kept for the legally required period under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Your rights
Where personal data are processed, you have GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability, subject to applicable conditions. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. There is no profiling or automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.
Contact shotclock_privacy@danielsorger.de. You may complain to a data protection authority, particularly the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, or the authority where you live or work. I cannot remotely access or erase information held only on your device or in your device backup.

Visiting these pages involves connection data processed by the website host. See the website privacy notice for hosting, recipients, international transfers and website logs. Clicking an email link opens your email app; a message is transmitted only when you send it.
